Virtual Barbie – Barbie Girls

The Barbie Girls world is a free Website which allows girls to create an avatar, design their own “room,” shop at the mall with B Bucks, go to the salon, play games, hang out and chat live with other girls.

There is also a movie theater where you can see Barbie-related entertainment. This summer Mattel also started selling a Barbie Girls device, which can be plugged into the computer and connects to the Web site, giving users more options in terms of fashion, furniture, pets and overall content.

This fall Barbie Girls will also be available in five additional languages, including German, French, Italian and Spanish. With Barbie Girl Mattel hopes to keep the “tween” girl interested, who are outgrowing their dolls and become more interested in technology and music and fashion.

Harpoon Lagoon

Harpoon Lagoon is an arcade game created for Fingertime by the UK based advergaming and content developer Playerthree. The game was released in early 2006 and is strongly inspired from the famous Gold Miner.

Harpoon Lagoon is all about fishing and grabbing treasures. Help Mad Mack, a “manimal” to catch as many valuable fish and items as possible in rounds of 60 seconds each. Use the left and right arrow keys to aim your harpoon and press the spacebar to spear “something” valuable.

Unlike in Gold Miner, you can also move Mad Mack’s boat by using the ‘Z’ and ‘X’ keys, which is not really a very useful addition (IMHO).

As cash targets are reached, you can improve your chances by spending in the lagoon store. A lot of stuff is available there, and you’ll need to buy a lot of upgrades if you want to have a chance to reach higher levels.

Harpoon Lagoon requires skill and patience. With its nice graphics and its immersive soundtrack, this game is a good choice for all those who enjoy playing Gold Miner.

PacMan is a very popular arcade game if not the one that “started it all”. Created by Tohru Iwatani for Namco, it was released in Japan in 1979 and became an instant hit.

A few of us know that the hero was first named “PuckMan” evidently due to his shape. However, before its release in the United States, the title was changed to “PacMan” because PuckMan was an easy target for vandals to convert into a vulgarity.

Nowadays, the game spread everywhere on the Web, and it can be easily found in many portals. Meet “Blinky”, “Pinky”, “Inkey” (original name “Inky”) and “Clyde”! Have fun!

Mega Man The Character

Rock was the brainchild of doctors Thomas Light and Albert W. Wily, built after their first creation, Proto Man, went AWOL during its A.I. testing. Rock was built with a sister robot, Roll, and was designed to be a lab assistant who would work with the two scientists and help them with their day-to-day tasks in the lab. Light and Wily put a lot into their new creation, building it with the most advanced A.I. that they could come up with at the time (advanced in that it was very human-like, although they wanted it to behave like a child), but they were careful to adhere to Isaac Asimov's laws of robotics (especially that a robot will never harm a human being).

Things went well with the new project until, two years later, Dr. Wily reprogrammed all of the industrial robots in the lab and took all of the other robots that he could get his hands on and fled to wreak havoc on the world. He did, however, fail to get past the encryption in Rock and Roll's brains, but Wily didn't see any use for a lab assistant and housekeeper.

However, Dr. Light knew that the police forces and armies of the world would not be ready to face the new threat that Wily's powerful robot army now possed, but he wasn't sure what to do. It was Rock, who possessed a strong sense of justice, who volunteered to be converted into a fighting robot. He was equipped with a Plasma Cannon that had variable weapon capability and strong titanium armor and set out to take on his former friends. It was thus that the lab assistant became the fighting robot known as Mega Man.

Mega Man would defeat Dr. Wily and his evil creations countless times because of his ability to use the "weapons" of other Robot Masters. Although Mega Man is forced to fight constantly, it is both his and Dr. Light's will that he live a life of peace (Dr. Light is, after all, a pacifist).

Pacman is back!

Once the game begins, you navigate your PacMan around the maze "eating" all of the dots. You must avoid the goblins also moving around the maze... these goblins will chase and "kill" your PacMan. The red dots (look more like squares) give your PacMan the ability to "kill" the goblins for a short period of time. The goblins will change colors to indicate they are vulnerable - they will also run from your PacMan.

Killing the goblins will give you additional points. Killing all of the goblins (before time runs out) will give you the most points per goblin.

Friday, 23 March 2007 100.000 users in 6 months

6 months after its launch, reaches 100.000 unique registrations., a marine virtual pet site, launch in October 2006, is a very successful online game, with the aim to populate an underwater city, Aquafish, created by Young Fish, an extra-terrestrial citizen. The big challenge is to create a Fish, a virtual pet, inhabitant of this city, and to take good care of him, making sure all his growing needs are satisfied.

There are a lot of background services to support the Fishes evolution, such as shops, Libraries, Hospitals, Pharmacies, Hotels, Jobs, Banks, and even a Recycle post. In these different spaces, the users can buy items to feed, play and instruct his pet. But to do so, they’ve got to earn “Aurux”, the money of Aquafish. To have enough “aurux” to go shopping users just need to have fun! In the section “Games”, there are several challenges, like puzzles, adventures or even luck games. The points won will be converted in aurux. One other way to win more aurux is to participate in the Fish Fights, where the users can put his Fish fighting with an opponent to win a price.

Since was launched, more than 100.000 users registered the site, and created until now 90.000 Fishes – their online virtual pet. Last February, the site was visited by 90.000 users that viewed over 1.600.000 pages. The majority of the users are from USA, UK, and Canada.

New functionalities will be developed to guarantee the continuous growth of! This online project proves that “virtual pets” have fans all over the world.

A game...

A game is a structured or semi-structured activity, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes also used as an educational tool.

Games generally involve mental or physical stimulation, and sometimes both. Many games help develop practical skills, serve as a form of exercise, or otherwise perform an educational, simulational or psychological role.

Known to have been played as far back as prehistoric times, Games are a universal part of the human experience, for all cultures, genders and ages.
